Everyone knows who Sublime is right?!?!? The Funky Snow Monkeys ARE Sublime (they're that good... really). Read on to see where this fantastic band got it's inspiration.
Sublime Biography: When national success finally came to the Long Beach, California, ska-rock band Sublime, it was painfully bittersweet. Frontman Brad Nowell spent eight years of his life in pursuit of rock stardom with the group, relentlessly working the Southern California party and bar scene with bassist Eric Wilson and drummer Bud Gaugh. He saw the band release two moderately successful albums on its own Skunk label before finally securing a long-sought-after major label deal with MCA, but he would never fully realize his dream. On May 25, 1996, three months before Sublime's self-titled MCA debut shipped to stores, Nowell —who had battled a heroin addiction for years —died of an overdose in a San Francisco hotel room. He was 28.
Released 10 weeks after Nowell's funeral, Sublime (#25, 1996) steadily went on to become one of the best-selling albums of 1997, spinning off four Modern Rock radio hits and eventually going quintuple platinum. The band's 1992 independent debut, 40 Oz. to Freedom, also enjoyed a sales spike (going platinum) after being reissued by MCA, while 1997's odds and sods collection Second-Hand Smoke, went to #28. Other vault releases included Stand by Your Van —Live in Concert (#49, 1998) and Acoustic —Bradley Nowell & Friends (#107, 1998). Greatest Hits, issued in late 1999, peaked at #114.
After Nowell's death, Wilson and Gaugh assembled the Long Beach Dub AllStars to perform at a 1996 benefit for Nowell's son, Jakob. Three years later, the group released its debut, Right Back.

Emerging onto the Western Canadian music scene in 2011, The Bitterweed Draw’s high energy performances have ignited crowds everywhere from large festival stages, to crowded bars, local markets, private functions, on-air radio, and whiskey swiggin’ sunrises aplenty. This six-piece honky-tonk outfit combines olde-tyme and bluegrass sensibilities with an edge of rock and roll swagger. Featuring musical medleys of electric guitar, lap steel, banjo, fiddle, infectious four-part vocal harmonies, and rhythm that keeps their audience moving all night long, this band is sure to light the barn on fire!
The Bitterweed Draw released their debut LP, Heart of the Old West, on March 9th 2012 to a sold-out crowd in Calgary, AB. With the lineup growing outside the venue and the realization that many fans would not be able to get in, the band took the concert outside. The energy in the air was so strong that the crowd grew to hundreds, while passers-by and even police officers lent their clapping hands and stomping feet to the night of song. This instant connection with fans has kept The Bitterweed Draw growing strong across Canada. With a recent cross Canada tour and over 80 performances since their debut release, The Bitterweed Draw’s live energetic performances has captured the hearts of new and old fans alike.

Swelling in primordial pulses and wholloping whoops, the tacit tones of Shane Philip's didgeridoo hold the power to still listeners into silence or encourage audiences to rise up in a tribal swell of intoxicating spirit - with sometimes but a heartbeat in between. Meanwhile his hands will be skilfully juggling between shaking up rhythms with his aslatua, driving the dance floor with his djembe and sliding out grooves on his Weissenborn-style guitar while his foot taps in earthshaking electronic kicks wherever they might fit. He is a one-man show weaving sounds that inspire audiences anywhere he goes.
From early childhood moments of drumming kitchen tables and car dashboards, to January 2008's release of his latest album, "In The Moment" Shane's musical stylings have been self-taught and self-motivated every step of the way. Borrowing from folk, reggae, blues and beyond, he blurs the boundaries of expectation and music into an altogether unique soundscape. "We are influenced by everything we listen to, see and do," Shane reminds. "So much of what shapes the music, vibe, content, and overall feeling of the songs is unconscious. I write music that results from everything that goes on in the life I live."
In 2007, Shane released "Earthshake," a collection of songs he had been working on for the past couple years, with production assistance from long-time collaborator, Corwin Fox. 2008 has seen their collaboration expanded and revamped with the release of Shane's newest album, "In The Moment." While some of the songs are rhythmically focused (bursting with high energy and powerful dance rhythms), others drip melodically with honey and sunshine -- deeply moving songs that reflect on the environment, social justice and personal experience.
Whether playing with spirited mayhem, or with mellow gold, Shane Philip presents songs that are consistently well crafted, while always leaving listeners with a positive afterglow.

Montreal-based alternative folk-pop band The Franklin Electric turned heads in 2012, claiming first prize in a Nashville song writing competition with the infectious song, “Old Piano”. The group then banded together to lay down their debut album "This is How I Let You Down".
The album was produced by The Franklin Electric's lead vocalist/piano/trumpeter and songwriter Jon Matte, who worked closely with award-winning engineer Rob Heaney for an almost - live approach to the recordings. Jon's stellar song writing guides the eleven tracks with a confident brass section and strong harmonies there to add melodic support. The songs were then partly mixed by Rob Heaney as well as Grammy winner Chris Shaw allowing the sonic beauty of the tracks to shine.
"Our music has allowed us to reach many new fans through shows, select radio stations in Canada and the U.S have started playing and supporting the music and a surprising number of bloggers have also discovered the music organically through direct connections with the songs, at live shows, on a roof top or just meeting someone who spoke about us! Dedicated to the music, we are truly grateful for this honest, independent magic in the evolution of the band" says Matte.
As front man and heart behind the group, Jon Matte has built his career on a resume of professionalism. He studied music at Vanier College in Montreal, and shortly after built a roster of production credits working with popular Canadian artists such as Patrick Watson, Bran Van 3000, and Bad News Brown.
After winning a video campaign with Australian based company Genero.tv, The Franklin Electric released the official video for the title track of our album ''This Is How I Let You Down'', filmed in Melbourne and directed by Julian Lucas, & Jarred Osborn. With brilliant story telling and cinematic visuals, a second music video was released with the same duo of directors in mid-February for the song “Unsatisfied”.
Recently the band caught the attention of Indica Records (home to Half Moon Run, Phantogram), who will be making the album available in stores as of May 6th 2014. Upcoming dates for The Franklin Electric include 3 shows at Canadian Music Week CMW and stopover on CTV's Canada AM, May 12th.

As long time friends, Gabe and Mike spent much of their youth playing music together. When Gabe headed off to pursue the pacific surf break of Hawaii and Mike ran to the coastal mountains in search of an endless winter, the music they shared would be, temporarily, put on hold. Returning to Vancouver in 2007, both Gabe and Mike new it was time to continue where they left off...and Redeye Empire was born!
Signed to 29 Records out of Vancouver BC, Redeye Empire has recorded and released 3 albums with their 4th Album to be released July 2011. Their first album (Redeye - 2007) set the stage for the bands first US tour with G Love & Special Sauce. While on tour the band caught the ear of producers Chris D (G Love & Special Sauce, Jack Johnson, Slightly Stoopid) and Ben Kaplan (Shakira, Chevelle, Trapt, Biffy Clyro). Redeye Empire quickly went to work with both producers recording their second album “The Diary of Everett Miley”.

This time with California based, Pepper. Redeye Empire did not disappoint! Shortly after returning home, the Empire was asked to head out for a short tour with ska/punk legends, Fishbone. Upon returning home Redeye Empire released their third album “Sea to Sky” and once again set out with G Love and Special Sauce.
The opportunity for Redeye Empire to display their unique and distinctive style has reached sold out crowds from Rhode Island to California and everywhere in between!

Already fans across the continent are gearing up for Redeye Empires next CD Release in July of 2011. When they are not playing music, the boys of Redeye Empire can generally be found taking advantage of everything the West Coast of BC has to offer.
